The fear about Botox is universal and it's valid. Everyone has seen someone whose face is frozen, whose forehead is unnaturally smooth, or whose eyebrows sit at a strange angle. That's the outcome most patients want to avoid at all costs — and it's usually the reason they haven't tried Botox even though they've thought about it.
Here's the reality: the 'frozen look' is almost always caused by one of three things — too much product, poorly-chosen injection points, or a practitioner who isn't taking time to understand what the patient actually wants.
Botox works by relaxing specific muscles that cause wrinkles when they contract. In small, targeted doses it softens lines while preserving normal facial movement. In larger doses, or when injected in the wrong locations, it flattens expression entirely. The technique is not complicated — but the judgement about how much and where requires experience and, more importantly, genuinely listening to what the patient wants their face to look like.
At ANNS, every Botox appointment starts with a proper facial assessment and a conversation. We ask how you want to look. We look at how your face moves. We identify which lines are bothering you and which are giving your face character. Then we recommend the minimum effective dose to address what you want addressed — nothing more.
A well-done Botox result is subtle. You should look like yourself — just rested. Friends might say you look well, or ask if you've been on holiday. They shouldn't be able to identify that you've had something done. That's the goal.
If you've been curious about Botox but afraid of looking overdone, come in for a consultation. We'll show you what a natural result looks like on your specific face — and if we don't think you need any at all, we'll tell you.
